Background

These are six Bulgarian navy and rank flags adopted in 1949. I am not quite sure about the right size and exact positions of the stars, since the official description said nothing of them.

The proportions of flags are correct; in most cases it was set at 2:3.

Below, I also add a table of sizes provided for these flags.

The size in the first row was reserved, foreseen for big vessels.
The size in the second row was for destroyer class and coast guard vessels.
The size in the third row was for all other vessels.

Note that the rampant lion in these flags appears on a field gules -- exactly as in the arms that preceded and followed the communist regime. When did the Narodna Republika adopt the coat of arms with the field azure?
